I enjoyed the Mencap 45th birthday party. I liked the disco.  I liked Barry Djing.  We were dancing.

Clubs

I do 4 clubs.  I go on the bus on my own, today too. I arrive early and help.  I started coming, I can’t remember how long ago I started coming.  I started coming to the 18+ club when it was 18+, and then I kept coming.  It has changed now though.  It is called Club 25 for people over, and Go Explore for people under 25.  There are a lot of people now.  Some have been coming for a long time like me.

I enjoy going on the club holiday every year.  We go out to different places like the theme park, golf, and the animal park.  We stay at a holiday camp sometimes, and it has evening entertainment.  That’s really good.  They have a swimming pool too.  I like swimming.  We go to a different place every year.

I have made quite a few friends at Mencap. I see them every week. I have all different friends at Mencap.  I like helping out.  I was nominated for an award. 

I go to Fitness on Monday nights.  We do running, and, well,  we do all kinds of different activities.  Dean, the club leader, is back now.  He was there on Monday.  He had a baby, so he was away.  Jemima volunteers on Mondays too.  She’s nice.

Music Man

I started going to The Music Man in 2018 when it was first set up, and I’m still going.  It was really good when we went to the Royal Albert Hall in London.  A group of us went.  We stayed in a youth hostel for a couple of nights.  We’re going to the Royal Albert Hall again in April. 

Last Wednesday we went to Fairfield College to teach some students how to play music and instruments like we do at The Music Man.  We taught them how to dance and play.  I like meeting new people.  It’s the first time we have done that.  We also went to Warmley Park School to perform and teach the little ones music. 

Some people did Music Man, but I didn’t do Zoom on lockdown.  I didn’t know… I had a visit from Laura (Operations Manager) and Kath (Chair of Trustees) because we couldn’t go on holiday because of lockdown.  They came to visit me to bring me some paperwork.  We had a virtual holiday instead.  It was nice to see them.

Naomi came to visit me too.  We had a chat and played some songs outside my house in the garden; a couple of Music Man songs.

Award

I got an award.  I didn’t know I was getting it.  It was because I help with setting up and putting it away at the end. 

I always help on Saturday at the Music Man with Naomi.  I put out the instruments ready for them to come.  I come a bit early and help her out.  When people come into club, I do the ticking to let them know they are here.  A volunteer is with me for that.

I enjoy learning new things, meeting different groups and choirs.
