On Saturday afternoon, we went to watch Bristol City take on Sheffield Wednesday at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, with kick-off at 3:00pm. We were seated at the very top of the stadium, but despite this we had excellent views of the pitch. Thankfully, we were also well sheltered from the wind and rain.
The whole group was buzzing with excitement as the match got underway. At half time, the score was still 0–0, but it wasn’t long into the second half before Bristol City scored their first goal. Our Mencap members jumped out of their seats, cheering and clapping with excitement. Not long after, Bristol City scored again, and the crowd erupted once more.
When the final whistle blew, everyone cheered loudly. It was a brilliant game, and our members had a fantastic time.
We would like to say a special thank you to volunteer Mel, who was able to secure free tickets for us through the Bristol City Robins Foundation. It was a wonderful day out for our members, and everyone had a brilliant time.
