I work at the RUH.  I am a porter and take people from the wards.  I take them to the hub for discharge, in E6.  I have been there for 8 years.  I used to be a tour guide in the RUH for visitors who  come in and can’t find which ward it is. 

It’s got 3 floors.  I was a volunteer when I didn’t have a job. I like meeting new people to talk to. Some of them feel a bit stressed. I take to them when they are on the way up there.

Club 25 Holiday

I went on the Mencap holiday.  We went to Cornwall.  I shared with Sean, and we got on well.   We had bunk beds.  I started off on the bottom then the last few nights I was on the top.  He asked. 

I like swimming.  There was a swimming pool there. We had both and indoor one and an outdoor one.  The outdoor one was at the cottages.

At the Milky Way (Amusement Park) you get a wrist band.  There were different rides and dodgems.  You can bump but not head on.  I kept bumping into Laura (Mencap’s Operations Manager).  I did it on purpose!  I was with Josh.  I am a good driver.

I liked chilling out with my friends on holiday.  The cottages were nice.  We made pizzas together.  We made the bases. The rolling pin kept getting stuck.  It had jalapeno with tomato and cheese, and another one had cheese, mushroom, sweetcorn and jalapeno.

I had a vodka shot on one of the nights.  I did it at my birthday before – at the golf club.  I am doing one next year. 

We went to a beach where you can surf and bodyboard.

Friendships

I have met some good friends at Mencap. At Keynsham and Radstock too.  I am going on a cruise with Shannon who is a Mencap friend from Saturday Club.  I used to go when I was younger and now I go to help out when they are short sometimes.

Sport

I am doing the Santa Dash 5k.  I did it before at another place at Westonbirt Arboretum.  I did a 10k. I went round twice.  I did the inflatable 5k too, and did the sponsored abseil in April.  

I ran the Bath Half in 2022. I only run when I am training for a special thing. 

I do full contact rugby.  I am in the second line in the scrum.  You grab their legs – the front people get a bit squashed!  It is near the Racecourse in Bath.  It’s a mixed ability team.  We were meant to have a match tonight, but they changed it.  It was postponed.

Music

I go to The Music Man Project Bristol and Bath because I really like music.  I am always listening to music.  I like Lady Gaga and Muse, and JLS and Dua Lipa.  I like Bon Jovi.  I am a big fan. I might get a playlist on my phone for a bit later, for when I am on the bus.  I use the bus for work. 

We went to the Albert Hall, and the Keynsham Music Festival. I will keep doing music.  I like performing on stages.  I felt scared before, but now I am used to it – I feel proud and happy after. 

We performed with different other Music Mans like Scotland and Essex, Hampshire, and Southend. I like all of the songs.   We always do that every Saturday morning. We will prepare for the Christmas concert. 

Keynsham Mencap

The best thing is meeting new friends.  We do lots of different activities.  I used to do cooking with Keynsham Mencap when I was young.  It has its own kitchen at the youth centre.  We did arts and crafts in the children’s club in Radstock.  Now, every other Tuesday I go to the Mencap Football Club.  We do skills first then a match at the end.
